Secondary residences often have very different criteria than primary ones. Some of this is simply due to locale and environment. A mountain home in snow country has very different needs than a beachfront home in a saltwater environment. Likewise, an urban home will differ from a rural one.
Often though, they are the result of different goals that owners have for their second homes. Some wish to create a getaway spot from the world, others, a place for informal socializing. For some their home may play an important role as a remote office for undisturbed working, or as a place for quiet contemplation. Relaxation though is often the order of the day, and informality frequently prevails.
Whatever the reasons, secondary homes tend to become distinct unto themselves. We always find them very enjoyable projects to work on.
